Grading system
Easy
Asphalt and/or gravel road, at times also rough, specific technical skills are not required. You can ride also on trails that have a gentle gradient and a relatively obstacle-free, hardened surface. Good fitness level is required.
Medium
Very good technical off-road skills are required. You will face paths aimed at experienced trail riders. They require special bike handling skills and good or very good balance on the bike as well as advanced braking skills. Riders must be able to shift their weight on the bike to overcome obstacles safely. Step-downs and tight switchback corners may also feature on these trails. Good fitness level is required.
Expert
You are an expert, you must be ready to avoid any obstacle, you are not afraid of any steep gradient and you know what to do in any situation. These trails require an excellent bike handling skills in order to master the many challenges pose. Requirements include excellent balance, the ability to ride tight switchbacks safely, outstanding braking, jumping skills and a range of trail-specific techniques (e.g. shifting front/back wheel). Generally an optimal fitness level is required at this level. When we recommend a road bike and we mark the ride as "hard", we mean that an outstanding level of fitness is required even if specific technical skills to handle the bike are not requested as we ride on asphalt.
